  2. Kaitlyn,

The idea sounds very fun for students and I think it would be good to get 2nd graders blogging. However, I do not know that 2nd graders will be able to sit still and write for a full hour. That is a long time to do one task for a child that young! Plus I do not think it will take them that long to answer those questions. Maybe you could find a way to incorporate it with a story they are reading and ask them to reflect on it as well.

  3. See Elizabeth's comments. In Anthony's 3rd grade class he has them write in groups. They write, revise, share over 5 days for about 20-30 minutes a day. Any more than that and you lose them. You also have two many driving questions. It would also help if you would make them real - such as writing a letter to a congressman. Anthony also found that posting to a blog added too much complexity. He abandoned that after about a month and used his blog to showcase great work. Exceptional students had their own blogs (a goal for others). This is similar to the experience of Mrs. Yollis in California (3rd grade).

You have some good ideas but they must be downsized considerably.
